some frequently asked questiosn about socialism: what about human nature is it that makes socialism fail every time? why would you want all the lazy people to do nothign and mooch off of you? what incentive is there to develop new inventions etc... if you werent going to receive the benefits you get udner capitalism?

All of those countries relied heavily on export promotion and industrial policy.Although taxes and tariffs were nominally low, the government influenced resource allocation through regulated monopolies and planning agencies (the nationalized telecoms and copper, CORFO, etc). The Asian Tigerswould likely have a very low “economic freedom score” during their early takeoff because they were very corrupt and unstable at the time. Their institutional qualityonly improved later, as a result of development. Most of these countries also hadhigh public investment and good public education systems relative to other countries in their regions

My wit fails me. ed: By the way, "democratic" != "elections"

Those are answered in every FAQ out there. But I guess they are obligatory.

Given this, isn;t it important to work towards socalism in the here and now by attempting to end imbalances in the modern world, such as the fact that more women than men graduate college, and that women live on average eight years longer than men?
