Yikes. Hard to stay engaged in his class. He literally just talks nonstop for an hour straight with half of what he's saying being irrelevant. Every class, he would walk outside for like 10 minutes and tell us to discuss with our group. Where does he go?? Also, he keeps talking about & encouraging communism, which got really annoying really fast.

I have never encountered a worse professor than Furr. He refused to switch from his old website to canvas and had ridiculous rules for submitting assignments. He was a cranky, rude old man and I advise staying away from taking his class at all costs.

Professor Furr will not teach you. He'll leave class 4-5 times during the lecture for 10 minutes and just stand outside. If anything is slightly off when emailing him, he will not accept it. Does not use canvas.

He literally, every single class, gets off topic. I know when I walk in I'm not going to learn. Other people in world lit here are reading fairy tales, but in his class, you are reading novels about colonized people and writing papers before every class. Always due at 8 the night before and if it's not "plain text" he will send your essay back.

He wasn't very helpful in the beginning of the class and he doesn't use canvas... instead its this old outdates website of his which gives me a headache to read.

His tests are impossible. He provides you with no help at all. He is condescending and has an attitude when you ask for help. He'd better if he was in Communist Russia- and so would we!

it must be soul crushing to have your class filled with 78 brain-dead business majors looking for an easy elective and 2 passionate kids who actually care about the material every semester

the positive reviews are adorable

It means pro-Stalin. Nobody should feel bad or apologize for being pro-Stalin. I support putting unrepentant Stalinists in charge of American classrooms.

CASE STUDY: What happens when you put an unrepentant Satanist in charge of an American college classroom?

the term โ€œStalinistโ€ is by Trots, for Trots, is what Iโ€™m getting at here. Itโ€™s designed to sever USSR under Stalinโ€™s leadership rhetorically from USSR under Leninโ€™s leadership, and also to try and sever USSR under Stalin rhetorically from the work of Marx and Engels. The concept of โ€œStalinismโ€ presents Stalin as a sort of magical goblin king who stole USSR from Communism and made it into something else. This is an absurd and incoherent idea and so my question was rhetorical as well.

one way you can tell there is really no such thing as โ€œStalinismโ€ is that when you read an article published by Trots (at least the sort of Western Trotskyists I would refer to as โ€œTrotsโ€ without hesitation), the writer will almost always segue from talking about the essayโ€™s topic, iron mines or county fairs or the Bar Kokhba revolt or whatever, to talking about good boy Leon Trotsky, how he was the last best hope for socialism and the champion of the sole model for building socialism ever after, the sole model for understanding the politics of nation-states ever after, and so on, like the guy just died yesterday. Even in essays about revision under Khrushchev or similar things where it might be directly relevant if it applied, the Marxists who talk about Stalin in that way nowadays are so incredibly rare and marginal they might as well not exist.

trots always assume I'm a trot because the first and only political question about communism they ever ask is "Have you read Trotsky?" and when I give them a beatific smile and say "Yes, yes I have read Trotsky" they just jump straight to thinking I must be 100% on board because they can't imagine a person critically reading multiple communists or having a political position more complex than identity based devotion to a single personality

anyways uphold Marxism-Leninism-Maoism-Goblin King thought

Haha those people are weird, but I unconditionally support appointing Stalinists to the most important posts in the American education system. Iโ€™m pro-Stalin, not anti-Stalin.

unfortunately my bad posting is just a boring case of bad posting. while it may be fun to invent a conspiracy like i'm a hidden Trotskyist, Posadist, CIA plant, liberal, Falun Gong member, RCP follower, Moonie or Gladio resistance fighter, i am in fact an ordinary Stalinist-Bidenist. now if you'll excuse me i have to check to cash
