i remember back in the early 00s i would often see writing on a bathroom stall wall that featured the same two or three styles of handwriting going back and forth arguing about something, and thus concluded this must have been the original form of the internet message board. with the proliferation of smartphones, i have anecdotally observed a decline in toilet wall scrawls
