More than one person has pointed out how pessimism-killing it should be for socialists that Western capitalists and bourgeois government figures are being forced to name "capitalism" lately and defend it by that name instead of leaving its social relations invisible. And now they're beginning to have to acknowledge that a "labor shortage" in their system means, "Instead of raising wages, we're having managers overwork our current staff and hoping we can wait it out until life is so desperate and shitty that we have 100 applicants per crappy underpaid job again." Like, it hardly means revolution is nigh but it's the voice of an opponent suddenly on the back foot.

my ninth-grade English teacher was a Protestant Christian with a very Anglican name but was some sort of distant kin by marriage to the Dr. Bronner soap guy. she brought us in a bunch of his stuff when we were doing a we-read-Ayn-Rand-this-year-curriculum project, "design a consumer product for a character from a book or play we read this year", I guess to show us an example of a small-business success story. i didn't like her very much, she helped get one of my friends kicked out of school that year and he had to go to the local delinquent school instead, so every time i see "Bronner" in someone's name, a part of me starts to wonder.......

thinking about these articles... and the bourgeoisie blaming bare-minimum welfare policy for the labor market "working" as they'd otherwise argue it's supposed to work (price meets supply vs. demand)... and the ideology of the labor market as an equal playing field... and before that the discussion we had about the usefulness of, "Give Me The Corona Money"... it made me go back and read this Funtimes Classic Rhizzone Thread, which aged well, at least the parts about Marx, and only really suffers nowadays from roseweird's righteous ascension from the forums into glory.

But it is indispensable Forums Lore, at least, how tHE r H i z z o n E posting legend mustang19 went fully insane after impper owned him into the Earth's core that first time. Because mustang's follow-up was, he tried to battle jools, SariBari, roseweird and me at the same time in a thread about Marx and welfare policy, and he instantly began to take his own troll seriously when people started explaining his own Marx quotes to him... and the shame of defeat turned him into, like... a stalker of a Web site. Like not a stalker of any one person, but of this entire Web site as his fictional lover/nemesis. China Mieville should buy the rights from him, is a man not entitled to the sweat of his brow. Also I should start giving people hints again when I'm arguing with them that was an honorable policy.

i want to revise the rHizzonE history to reflect that, in fact, crow took thug to task and also kahina just happened to show up later in the thread and mainly distinguished her posting by having no idea how to use the quote function

i must have registered right after that thread because people always mention red kahina posting on here for a split second and I don't remember that happening at all. but I wondered why Thug Lessons had become like a super-angry bomb-Syria guy when I argued with him over it. I thought it was about honesty in games journalism.

maybe its because i walked home for 3 hours after work and i just basically just shat all my entire guts out on the toilet 5 minutes ago but hearing that red kahina had an account here has left me feeling both exhausted and nauseous

it was for all of two days, confined to just one thread, so it's easy to write off as some fever dream (though her last post will shock you!)

Spoiler!

near as i can tell, it was mainly because of an irl connection to a former (RIP) regular who has since landed on her sworn enemies list, but it's not worth getting into

so how about that US labor market

RK only posted for a split second because i suppose she didn't realize it represented jurisdictional overreach until her superiors at langley stepped in after a more established poster complained. it's a shame because i think she would provide an invaluable insight into our covid threads.

wow.. can't believe Red Kahina got to post with daddyholes......
