"SJW" insult is Nazi propaganda and we don't use it on this forum because we don't do the enemy's work for them thanks.

yeah i don't recall tpaine ever using that term and i dont understand why he would either since he wrote an anti-troop book which would put him way ahead of most people on this forum for that title

This might be a stupid idea, but with regards to the algorithm and twitter, I wonder if it would not be theoretically possible to write an anti-algorithm. Twitter controls what you see but (mostly) not what content is available, meaning all of those posts are up there, probably with API hooks and whatever else. You could code an alternative way of digesting and focusing content independent of the State-Department-approved algorithmic feed. By comparison, Facebook content seems more gated/sharded, and of course less desirable to access. But I think you could write an alternative twitter client that essentially bypassed the creator's wishes for content curation and replaced them with your own. Even if they shut down your access to the API, it's all on the web and could be scraped. I think it makes a lot more sense to try and bypass top-down manipulation on a platform where the people (and the discourse) already is, rather than establish barren reactionary-infested alternatives (mastodon). This project would not inherently bypass content that is successful or appealing, meaning you are still very likely to see mckinsey-tested memes or whatever, if people like them enough, but it does seem like an improvement over whatever terrible forces are in play to manipulate what one usually sees.

yeah, twitter/facebook demonstrably began to suck more as soon as they switched to an algorithm instead of just being entirely time-based. it's the one thing old-school forums still have over other social media, your eyeballs are gonna still see a post in the order in which it was posted, equal among all others, regardless of its content or upvotes

Imagining what I would've known about the coup in Bolivia, the bad faith nakedly aggressive US attempts to destroy socialism in Venezuela, and so on, without the internet. They don't allow questioning of imperialism in any mass media; I would've had to end up a subscriber to like a Philip Agee newsletter or something.

Now that I've learned how to see it, I don't need the internet anymore, though. Like teaching a man how to fish etc. Thanks everyone!

Hollywood today would be completely unable to present Superman as he was in his first years of existence, the true original Superman; the reactionary pejorative “social justice warrior” could hardly capture the vehemence of Superman’s lefty politics.

I feel that my usage was also wrapped in a reactionary pejorative context and move to dismiss

fwiw I had thought tpaine complained about sjws but he actually said 'gender specials'

do you seriously not understand what that sentence I wrote means when it calls that term reactionary? like I understand you tried to get me with search and failed miserably but that’s a Nazi propaganda phrase and we don’t use it here because it’s pathetic to do their work for them.

One time i was on omegle talking to a half filipino half mongolian dude wearing a crappy iron on swastika t shirt and i said so you’re like really a nazi or what and he said yes but we don’t actually like that word it’s kind of offensive we prefer national socialist and i said oh my bad dude.

when I was in college I posted on a creepypasta forum with the chick from this https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Halifax_mass_shooting_plot who also had Asian parentage and YES, she was worried about the SJWs

when I was in college I came to class a couple minutes late and I was covered in snow & ice because it started coming down just before I arrived and the professor took one look at me as I entered the lecture hall and dismissed the class. Someone filing out was like you're a hero and I nodded because I was also really high.

I got my anonymous sex question read out by the professor to a packed psych 101 lecture hall in college: “will hand to gland combat make you go blind”. Thunderous applause.

i used to go around to big freshman lectures early in the semester giving quick before class presentations shilling for an on-campus org. one time the prof came in late, got really confused and worriedly asked if the department had replaced him. i hope he wasn't counting on having the respect of those kids

in my home economics class during the sex ed portion our teacher announced that all anonymous questions would be read uncensored. i don't think i've ever heard a middle school teacher drop so many f-bombs in a single hour

thinking recently about how "doxxing" me involves someone irl finding me online rather than someone online finding me irl

there is a presumed limitless reservoir of people willing to get you fired, shoot out your windows, wait for you on the street to attack, etc. it doesn't matter who you are or what you do on the internet, there are people who hate you and would hurt you if they could, if only they knew who you are. the only disconnect between you and this vast, evil host is that they do not know you, cannot differentiate you in the crowd of other people. yeah, it's kind of a weird idea. worth interrogating a bit more, imo.

everyone online knows who i am and i feel safer than ever because of it, someone is paying attention and i feel like many are looking out for me as my real world life becomes more precarious. i hope one of my benevolent computer watchers or better yet online friends can help me. this may be delusion of the other sort
