it's possible, I guess we have to wait for the results of the investigation. iran has invited every interested party and even the NTSB as a show of good faith, so they're clearly not engaged in a cover-up. today they're reiterating that they're certain no missile hit the aircraft. I can't see why they'd do that if its going to be refuted next week. supposedly the ukrainian press is reporting that their investigators have reached the same conclusion, though idk if that's true. then there's the fact that for the first ~36 hours the pentagon reported that there was no evidence of a shootdown, but reconsidered once bellingcat was on the case. I suppose the reason iran called the american allegations 'psychological warfare' is that they work to neutralize the impact of the missile strikes by drawing attention to the airliner instead. seems to be working.

Suprise, suprise, the US rejects the Iraqi demand for a troop withdrawal.

mediator and queer icon sultan qaboos has died. reports on twitter of the omani military being on high alert, worried about a coup. not sure if u$ / iran would consider it more advantageous to try to stage one or leave oman alone as a neutral ground.

iran admitted to shooting down the plane

Ima be real with you chief - Iran probably accidently shot it down while on high alert. Besides the fact that Iran has plenty of other surface-to-air short and medium ranged missiles and launchers that are stand-alone, the circumstanial evidence and the target make it unconvincing to suggest that it was anything other than A)1 a very spectacular and coincidentally-time technical failure, or B) an accidental attack by a country on high alert, as it was in the midst of retaliating against an unpredictable and untrustworthy imperialist regime. This is the problem with the brinksmanship game states play with each other, the tensions involved lead up to fuck ups of huge proportions

well you called it. of course at the end of the day the u.s. initiated the circumstances that made this accident possible

https://www.nytimes.com/2020/01/10/world/middleeast/missile-iran-plane-crash.html

Iran announced early Saturday that it had accidentally shot down a Ukrainian passenger jet, blaming it on human error because of what it called the planeā€™s sharp, unexpected turn toward a sensitive military base, according to a statement issued by the countryā€™s military.

Glad they owned up to it, then. Staying silent as more evidence inevitably emerged would have just fuelled the warmongers' accusation that it wasn't an accident

bit of a long shot but it's possible that CIA/SIS together with our fascist puppets in ukraine arranged for either the aircraft itself or something separate to use targeted radar deception to make it appear indistinguishable from a cruise missile... some of the reported hostile aerial activity around the same time might have even been actual cruise missiles and absolutely certainly included numerous aerial launching platforms for such missiles. amerikkka's fault eiother way obviously, death to amerikkka e: not as much of a long shot as i thought really after a little bit of research. U.S. def ahd the conditions and ELINT to pull it off

The US has been strengthening its EW capabilities in recent years with lots of development and acquisitions and plenty of deployment in the region such as extensive use of te MQ-1 in the region. a lot of tech seems extremely compact and advanced, with one unit running on a measly 50W with an extremely compact form factor. some systems are even specifically designed to be disposable/ejectable standalone units, others are designed to operate from outside te target radar's and SAMs' range.

e: also disguising or hiding the presence of a target that is actually there which most of this stuff is designed around is much more difficult than confusing radar about a target for which no efforts at concealment are being made

The US obviously covers up its troop deaths by reporting them as helicopter accidents etc. but if claimed they were killed in afghanistan by an IED, they were probably killed in afghanistan. the iranian government gave a warning to the iraqi government that they were going to do the strike

I wonder how much intelligence agencies dedicate to tracking the locations of movers and shakers on a continual basis. Like, I'm sure people are watching e.g. the Kushners. but like maybe there is a list of hundreds or thousands of names in a bunker in Tel Aviv that's just filling in blanks on personalized timelines

how you going to make sure it's his moustache
