liken this to the hospital waiting rooms where fox news is ubiquitous, where cracker families sit around wringing their hands and stressing about the cost of healthcare while simultaneously ready to leap to their feet and hiss at a brown woman on television. it’s like the fascists are getting all the muscle memory cues to satisfy their urges, but even their own pea brains can’t exactly take what’s being shoved in them anymore. after all, these people know how to do basic tasks like use credit cards to buy shit online, drive a car, wash their hands, read letters, etc. but the pond scum being blasted at their frontal lobes is too noxious even for them to digest properly.
these fascists sitting in their cars and in hospital waiting rooms still know something is up. they’re furious about it, and, like all fascists, get extra furious when they think they’re being laughed at by someone smarter than them. (leftists, on the other hand, i find get a bit resentful and demoralized as opposed to furious.) this fury has made the right dig in even deeper to the delusions spun on the radio. they see it as a point of pride now, a badge to be worn, to say that yes they understand that actually labour hasn’t been in power for the last 12 years but everything bad is because labour has been in power for too long. they absolutely hate every woman and especially every woman of color who is in any position of power in the united states but are so grateful, really, that they still have a clear lodestar on which to attach their sexual and racist hatred.
the cognitive dissonance is overwhelming. people are losing their ability to think, to compose complete and clear thoughts. the bile is rising, and now that the oxy has been cut off, it’s looking for somewhere to go.
so, rejoice! my prediction for 2020 is the beginning of the end of the united states of america. the core is so swiss-cheesed at this point, crawling with fascists and the fruits of its new media cultural project, that it can no longer command the gravity necessary to hold itself together. capital is at once tearing down all forms of community while scrambling to preserve the social reproduction necessary to keep its lights on. as goonewardena writes: the beast of absolute immiseration is slouching towards a center struggling to hold.
the bad news is, dear reader, that this can only mean war! bitter, nasty war where we all find ourselves more isolated and alone than before. having foregone any traditional forms of organizing and simply taking refuge in own own prisons of social media, the anglophone left is utterly unprepared to meet the global holocausts of the 2020s. yeah i noticed this in myself and i've been seeing it going around in other places, and i thought, oh yeah that was me a few days ago and that's probably not healthy. but i like how this place does challenge people. i'm also still a rHizzonE cadet and i think they kinda have a "tough love" approach around here you know. so i like to see more new people, and welcome again. i think we should sit around the mess hall and make jokes about the veterans when they're not listening. and play pranks on them.
