i'm working in an amazon warehouse and this is probably the first job i've had where i can describe the industrial organization as actively hostile.

i'm coming to the realization that automation is a comforting pipedream and this kind of modern corporate ladder-climbing + manchester capitalism kind of model is a lot more enticing for the remaining productive core industries. plus, the secondary tendency to decentralize and prop up increasingly casualized work with sleek user interfaces and software will probably absorb all the PR glamor that automation would have in its place.
