Episode of black mirror: "Who Else Hates to Fly?". Its the near future. Hyper-capitalism rules the world thanks to some technology or other. Main character, a sweaty insurance salesman in a bad suit is on a flight, squeezed into a seat with his briefcase on his lap. He browses through the plane menu. "Crackers, $10. Nip of whiskey... $50. Shot of heroin, $200. Oxygen masks $150,000. Bathroom $95 for 2 visits, 500 seconds each." Suddenly he gets a text message. It's his wife... she is furious. He flips back to an earlier page and there it is... Text messages.. $175. The salesman groans. Beep, it's another message from the wife. She found out about his embarrassing pornography collection. Beep. Actually their 7 year old son found the collection. Beep, she knows about the "massage parlor". He is sweating horribly. Beep, she is taking the car and the dog. Beep, you never satisfied me. The episode just goes on like this until he has lost like $12,000 and he gets extradited back to his zone for not having any money

A bunch of kids in the mid-1980s discover a wormhole that leads directly to 1990, where their families gratefully take them back in without asking too many questions about where they were for a few years and why they haven't grown. Original score by Guru Josh

i watch the archie soap opera religiously and i can guarantee the show is written for brasilian teenagers who obsessively post the same photos of its stars on instagram over and over again

i sit in a tall chair and give people tasks to do for small amounts of cash. The tasks are written for me by writers on cards but I just tell the people to do whatever I want instead and the people at home watching laugh at it so they can't stop me. Five episodes in i reach under the chair and hit a switch. A large balloon inflates under my chair and i begin to float toward the ceiling. Men with headsets come after me with hooked poles but I drift away from them by thrashing my arms from side to side. Finding a rafter, I push hard, and crash through the ceiling, then the roof. The camera follows me up above the clouds as the setting sun illuminates my face, brilliant and golden, pacific and serene. "Low Rider" is playing

it’s always funny to watch Bush when he was trying to act like he personally gave a shit about right-wing religious crap... he literally got a bunch of people killed over it and he still couldn’t convince that mob he was into it in the end

imo Reagan got re-elected, Bush didn’t, Dole lost, Bush’s kid won twice, and McCain and Romney never had a chance for pretty much the same reasons: it came down to who among them successfully exploited the militia movement types, not the 4chan performative nerd sliver or its equivalent, but the folks actually stockpiling ammo and waiting around for the Turner Diaries to happen, the Oathkeeper set who beat up Meme Kid at that rally a while back

my guess is that was the story in 2016 as well, at least to the degree that it wasn’t just about how voters in general disliked Clinton and Republicans could have been mobilized to vote for a can of flat soda if it ran against her... of course the U.S. news press are idiots and couldn’t believe they failed to predict the outcome, they went with the Clinton P.R. theory that Online somehow elected Trump. But the “middle-class” Republican base that delivered those votes is a lot closer to, and has a lot more in common with, the Oathkeepers than they do with the relatively tiny numbers of Meme Kid. They’re married grumpy wanna-be homesteaders instead of young, re-virgined pseudo-death-cultists

I challenge anyone to come up with a worse idea for a TV show than all of that crap

I don't know why I posted again. Um, uh... maybe make Left Behind a TV series in the hat trick for failed franchise reboots.
