finally got a full time job providing career assistance to unemployed workers, so that's pretty cool. although now i'm probably not going to have a lot of time to post here anymore, im sure you're all devastated *camera pans to a room full of disengaged people looking at their phones and watches*
#7045
Very nice
#7046
how did you get this career assistance job. did a full time career assister guide your previously unemployeed self into it
#7047
You gotta defeat the previous career assistance person a la No More Heroes to rightfully take over their job.

the other day i was in the mall and a woman from amnesty international wanted me to donate money to them. she asked if i had any opinions, to which i replied, 'none at all'
#7049
those people aren't even 'from' the charity, the reason they're so aggressive is they're employed as subcontractors of a third party agency and only make commission on signups with no base pay. amnesty once again with the unwavering commitment to human rights
#7050
i feel bad for the charity muggers cause they dont get paid unless they're really annoying. but its a real good feeling to master the combination gait/expression that they won't even try to talk to you.
#7051
Every time they talk to me I ask them what the highest paid employee is in the charity. One time they said she makes 200k (but she could actually be making 400+ at another firm if she wanted to, so really she is very generous) I told them to ask her for money first

brutal, yet fair

i was at a party and i was having this really good conversation with this girl, we were talking about american culture etc. british "culture" et. al. and i was saying how i never liked america and she said she didn't like america too and i said yeah, my politics have always prevented me from liking america, and she was like, "what politics?" all eager and interested and i said "basically, i've talked with a lot of people who lived in the soviet union and i think the world was better with the soviet union in it." then the smile just slid off her face like a bird hitting a window and sliding down, and she nodded and uh-huhed, and i'll never see her again as a result of this, but i don't regret it, i will never lie about my politics.

Similar happened to me where we discussed philosophy and critical theory and one thing lead to another and she kept talking about repression of art under Stalinism while I kept saying socialist realism was the pinnacle of art in the 20th century. She was more intrigued than anything which was a plus I guess

i talked to a girl once too

i did some temporary IT stuff for them and once that ended someone there was like "hey you should try out this position, it's really rewarding" and i was like "sure". it felt like a good decision at the time but staff here are starting to get laid off because the unemployment rate is going down so idk

i just got out of the psych ward and they gave me sleep meds and started a first-gen antipsychotic, both of which are helping immensely. my sleep schedule/deprivation has been insane for years and im sleeping like a normal person now
#7067
im having ancxiety still though and my analyst is doing the analyst thing where she says ativans a bad idea because it will corrupt potential diagnosytic information and create dependency. she trusts me a lot so it sup to me but im putting it off for now, in the interest of Psychoanalytic Process

edit: had a talk with the psych in the ward about paranoia becoming very realistic if youre smart, sure this will surprise no one here, she mentioned working with ex-cia people. i didnt tell her my cuttlefish theories about facebook though, or that i send every interaction i have to a friend for screening for uhh paranoia reasons. its chill though thats happening less also im not heating voices as much

every psych med is really personal and dependent on various circumstances, but I would say once you start one thing that is working for you wait a little while to adjust before you start on something else, just so you (and your medical supports) can easily keep straight what each thing is doing to you.

e: also grats on the better sleep, it's super valuable and can go miles to turning things around

I just started working in a branch of a smallish chain of shops that only hired replacements because the woman who single handedly ran the place previously was worked 7 days a week for a month and eventually quit to get as far away from the place as possible. Minimum wage, zero hours, docking people's pay over errors. I've worked shit jobs before but the level of contempt this business shows to its staff is shocking to me, which i guess is just indicative of how naive I am

Anyway I found the MD on Facebook

i dreamed that i was in like an auditorium with a bunch of people and the fire alarm briefly went off but everyone said false alarm no fire, but someone i knew told me there was a fire and he saw it and i should leave. so we're leaving and everyone says no theres no fire and im like i heared there was, so i leave and im climbing up a hillside away from the auditorium when all of a suddenl theres a huge earthshaking explosion and i fall to the ground and look back and it's not the auditorium that blew up but, behind the auditorium is a river and behind the river is a big city on some rolling mountains that currentyly has 4 separate massive mushroom clouds going up, and i ponder whether it's some sort of massive plant meltdown or the literal nuclear apocalypse, and tell myself if i get over the crest of the hill ill be safe but i cant, im so close but i literally cant move and none of my limbs work and i realize im paralyzed and im dying and i dont even know what really just happened, and my body feels all funny and my vision is fading to white and then i woke up and thats how i started my 4th of july
