tell your partner you don't have any interest in owning the whites' bloody land, have a big fight, don't resolve it, let the problems work themselves out through snide comments and stress dreams

yeesh. I don't want to own land because I'm a settler and I don't want to have kids and hand them a dying planet. So far I'm young enough that this hasn't impacted my relationships but I am really not looking forward to it.

Where my anti-natalists at?

i really dont want a house either and it took me actually looking at houses with my partner to realize it. sort of like joining the military it was something i slipped into it without really questioning it but at least this time i realized it before i took the jump. the allure of a house is really powerful though. i dont like the idea of renting on a fixed income in old age. i want that security. but i dont think i can really take it and credibly call myself a communist

i think if you own a home you are a landlord
#6058
yeah its not like you sign the papers and directly take responsibility for the massacre nearest your house. its that you buy into the entire racist structure of real estate which has origins in genocide etc. its sort of like joining the military in that by joining you arent necessarily taking personal responsibility for all dead iraqi children but whatever critique you have of that institution is overshadowed by the fact that you sustain it and benefit from it materially.
#6059
i would fucking love to fix up old houses and give them away though. i think 90% of why i want a house is connected to the deep all-consuming satisfaction i derive from construction.
#6060
own a home, but do it ironically

except with the military you sign the papers and directly take responsibility for the massacre that's occurring while you're in the military

edit: for real, i dont really understand why buying a house is qualitatively different from, e.g., having a retirement account, in terms of buying into racist systems that use the resources you put in to commit atrocities across the globe, while putting you in a position to rely on the economic benefits of those murders

the land is the basis of white wealth, it's the primary white privilege, it's the primary inheritance. it's the material foundation of the white nation in a way that retirement accounts, a much more recent white privilege, are not. you can imagine the difference between a future america where whites lose their 401ks, trial runs for which happen approximately every recession, and a future where whites lose the land, which would involve a full US decolonization.

i see retirement accounts as being a modern expression of living off of accumulated capital, which has a history in the US very much parallel to that of land ownership, so i think it's a decent comparison. neither really looks the same today as they did in, say, 1900 and i guess that might say something about the historical progression of settler society. and even today it seems to me at least that they both function in a similar way in settler society, both providing access to some element of a bourgeois lifestyle, in terms of the pseudo-guarantees to security and a share of the economic gains made by the bourgeois class.

Is this the case with MDMA too?

As a former house builder I think I can say with authority that houses were a mistake, and to correct this mistake we must burn all the houses and become nomads.

let's take a quick look at the racial construct of US landowners and not fret if we want to be one of them
