PODCAST SNIPA

there was some twitter controversy today where ppg/chapo/dsa et al were arguing with greaves-and-klein aligned people but also taking jabs at 'tankies' and 'stalinists' on Twitter who are Actually Good which was kind of annoying tbh. there is even this one DSA dude 'Staff Sgt. Joker' on there who is/was a troop and now advocates Western communists joining the US military in order to 'gain experience' lmao

sorry if this breaks the swampman policy of not whinging about low-level twitter trolls here. I just wanted to vent a little. I've only recently got into Twitter. everytime an or a DemSoc says something I think is dumb I just miss the ZZoNe <3

pisspig himself said hes a tankie and on the podcast said the ypg "is pretty stalinist which is cool as hell" haha. i wish nobody paid attenton to molly klein and phil greaves because theyre both just kooks.

the ypg is basically fucked i think...which seems to be the same conclusion pisspig was coming to on the chapo podcast, which was good btw

Turkish-backed Syrian rebels are pressing a major offensive on al-Bab, 30 km (20 miles) south of the Turkish border. The advance risks putting them in direct conflict with Syrian government forces who are closing in on the city from the south.

"The ultimate goal is to cleanse a 5,000-square-km area," Erdogan told a news conference before his departure on an official visit to Bahrain, Saudi Arabia and Qatar.

He said Turkish forces had no intention of staying in Syria once the area had been cleared of both Islamic State and Kurdish YPG militia fighters, whom Turkey sees as a hostile force.

#43
oh cool. scary about Turkey though I pray pisspig comes back to USA unharmed.

i will never listen to chapo trap house but i will recommend people who like podcasts check out a podcast by brief 'zzone poster real subtle and friends: here, including one episode featuring our dead, departed leader discipline
#45
The uhh yeah dude episode about native americans was not as racist as I expected it would be, which is good
#46
In my opinion you should be forbidden by law from making a podcast if you can't actually be together in the same room with decent microphones and i do not understand why anyone expects others to listen to a google hangouts call on Macbook pro mics for any extended length of time.

everyone got mad on United States twitter because they had Valentine's day online. this is probably easy for me to say because i saw people i agreed with get called "tankies" for a couple years without knowing or caring what it referred to and then when i finally asked someone i was like, well it's good to know about socialist history but it's a little weird to stake out sides in a current political divide based on a particular localized conflict that was settled a long time ago, and since it obviously started out as a pejorative it's maybe not necessary to identify with it. like that can be empowering, but sometimes it's not. so when someone uses it as an insult for someone you disagree with i don't know if it's necessary to say "hey that's me too". just my 2c.

ive noticed use of the word becoming more and more widespread and it's never about people's take on hungary. a few years ago it was about syria: "oh you dont support the heroic freedom fighters in syria? thats tankie to me" now: "oh youre to the left of the dsa? tankie" and so on always with the implication that the tankie is likely a nutjob or just an untouchable or whatever, as a way to dismiss anyone who veers too far from "acceptable" leftism such as those trots who denounce cuba etc

i think that's a pretty intellectually dishonest thing to suggest. they both have some views that might be characterized as kooky but the vast majority of their positions are pretty striaghtforward ML stuff and if their other ideas are really that bad then they're even more worth paying attention to and critiquing and confronting; ignoring bad ideas and thought and hoping they go away is terrible practice for communists.

#51
molly thinks discipline is cia and phil thinks pizzagate is literally real and just in general they seem like cranks who also cant comprehend humor and are embarrassing even if often okay M-Ls. are they such important thinkers that we really need to care or are they just two people on twitter that people like to rubberneck at

In general, the 140 character public callout culture of political discussion is toxic. It's fairly telling that these people either write pseudo-academic 100 page tumblr posts about politics or tweets, nothing in between

if it was just a case of bad opinions you'd have a point, but their constant kneejerk CIAjacketing of everyone isn't really amenable to "critique"

in this context I agree that communists might want to work to deprecate the term, since the tanks now by and large belong to imperialist powers and it's elements like the DSA platform that call for sending them in (to "fix" resistance to imperialism).

I have yet to be called a tankie to my face by anyone but i think my response might be, "i don't own a tank."

If a soldier can march barefoot through the forests of India for days, then I can make the sacrifice of listening to subpar audio quality if it teaches me about lunatics who decide to go kill Muslims overseas because communism. One world one struggle blink.

Don per my moderation campaign promise we have to record a podcast reviewing the film die hard together, I hope this acceptable to you and that you won't force me to show ass in front of my new subjects.
#62
the d&d response to the boston bombing was really a formative point in my outlook because there were armored vehicles carrying hundreds of guys in black armor and machineguns aimlessly rolling down residential neighborhoods pointing their weapons at people and randomly searching houses with the "permission" of five guys with automatic weapons on your porch demanding to search your house during city lockdown, and i can still remember just how insanely fucking spitting mad d&d was at anyone who criticized this

also their pathetic leg-humping of the cops for their Competence. they caught one of the bombers alive! purely by accident, after they fired literally hundreds of rounds at the fleeing suspects, inadvertently hitting another police officer and causing him to lose 100% of his original blood

I should warn you that my home internet connection is literally a shitty 3G modem so I've been putting my podlife on pause until I get an apartment and run ludicrous fibre up in that bitch. Eventually I will record a podcast with you reviewing the film "Die Hard" (The Hard) together.

Here's my topic list so far
1. Super sculpted 80s beards
2. Being a thin guy in a big coat - popular 80s look?
3. When everyone starts laughing at the end is that marxist or nah
4. Remember how in the 80s an action scene could be like you sort of shove each other for a few minutes then someone falls down the stairs

Plus virtually all big boss battles were about being lost in a confusing industrial scene or something and having to carefully move between levels and shit while inevitably getting surprised a bunch of times. If you are some sort of villain just stay away from industrial sites or major transportation hubs and like open up an office in a suburban strip mall - there will be no scaffolding to struggle around until you inevitably die.

Lot of steam fights in the 1980s... and even into the early to mid 90s. By the late 90s into the 2000s the more modern paradigm begins to take hold and the combination of CGI and genre saturation begins the current action movie arms race, where instead of every final fight taking place in either a lab, factory, or construction site, all final battles begin to happen on top of an exploding White House.
#67
I thought Batman versus Superman was a good example of that ludicrous epic city-scale final fight sequence because they just randomly had Wonder Woman there sort of tooling around not sure what to contribute after a strange commute for her where she's like on an airplane looking at her phone and shit. Also because of CGI there always has to be huge beams of energy, which is the primary form of how villains get things done in our times, usually in some strange pulsating and escalating beam which would eventually destroy the planet. It's sort of odd how they have to include that in every movie now though, like, even the all-black reboot to Bridesmaids or something.
#68
Alright... let's save it for the cast.
#69
What if you podcast in text form right ITT

We can get actors to record the parts of Keven and getfiscal later for the audio version.

an atheist podcast called Christbusters
